Dr Ali has an extensive experience of over 26 years working in the field of interventional gastroentrology. He is an expert in Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, ERCP, and EUS (endoscopic ultrasound). He is registered with PMDC and is a member of The Pakistan Society of Gastroenterology (PSG). He currently serves as Executive Council and previously served as Joint Secretary (2017-2019) in PSG. He is a member of Royal College of Physicians (London), Royal College of Physicians (Glasgow), and European Specialty Examination in Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

He has worked as a honorary consultant in Civil Hospital Karachi and now works in Sindh Institute of Advanced Gastroenterology and performed numerous procedures including pediatric as well as adult diagnostic/therapeutic upper and lower endoscopies. Furthermore, he is proficient in pediatric and adult ERCP, ERCP with spyglass, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic Ultrasounds (Celiac blocks, PPC drainage, Biliary drainages).

Dr Ali has been an integral part of several workshops held at Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) Surgical Ward 4 (from 2009 till date). He was a former Finance Secretary and currently the Deputy Secretary of PSG.

Dr Ali was the Head of Department (HOD) of Gastroenterology in Indus Hospital Karachi for 8 years. He has worked in CMH (Civil Military Hospital), AKUH (Agha Khan University Hospital), SIUT (Sindh Institute of Urology & Transplantation). He is also experienced in teaching as he taught BD students at Altamash Institute of Dental Medicine.

He has greatly contributed in the field of gastroenterology through various publications in Journal of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan (JCPSP), Journal of Pakistan Medical Association (JPMA) and Pakistan Journal of Medical Sciences (PJMS).
